Digital Documentation for Digital TWINS (DiDiT 2025)
The Department of Architecture and Planning, College of Engineering Trivandrum, in collaboration with the Centre of Excellence for Urban Planning and Design, NIT Calicut, conducted a five-day workshop titled "Digital Documentation for Digital Twins" from 25th to 29th June 2025. The workshop sessions were conducted by Ar. Vinod MM, conservation architect and Ar. Maniyarasan, expert in photogrammetry. The workshop consisted of both theory based and hands-on sessions in which a documentation of the Koyikkal Palace, Nedumangad, was done using Photogrammetry technique.

The UG SSA CET members conducted a documentary screening of "Bauhaus Architecture" on August 12, 2024, in JC Alexander Hall. The documentary entailed the thought process of the mastermind, Walter Gropius, and the revolutionary Bauhaus School of Design's contextual relevance and historical importance. Its political involvement and functionality stirred an exciting discussion between the students. They reflected on the changing face of architecture and how Bauhaus marked the beginning of the end of cultural impressions and craftsmanship. Arguments came up like the ticking of a clock! However, students agreed that the minimalistic approach of Bauhaus architecture was both a solution and a statement. The documentary discussion was an excellent start to many upcoming events to keep our budding architects on their toes!

A three day faculty development program titled Enhancing Accessibility and inclusion through Design was organised by the Department of Architecture and Planning , College of Engineering Trivandrum from 10 January to 12 January 2024. The program, sponsored by the Directorate of Technical Education, offered its participants an insight into the world of the people with disability, accessibility and assistive technology through expert talks, site visit and hands on design experience.
The program was inaugurated by Shri SH Panchapakesan, Commissioner, State Commissionerate for Persons with disability. Resource persons for the sessions included experts like Prof Gaurav Raheja (IIT Roorkee), Prof Manish Anand (IIT Chennai), Dr Balaram Singanapalli (retired professor- NID Ahmedabad). There were also sessions by the Barrier Free Consultancy Cell of CET and NISH. Ms Tiffany Brar and Ms Nincy Maria two very inspiring persons with disabilty shared their life experiences with the participants. The participants were faculty from various colleges inside and outside Kerala representing various disciplines like architecture, design and engineering . The participants were overwhelmed by the program and described this as a starting point to inclusion in their lives, classrooms and practices.
